Abstract Text:

Massachusetts has adopted the 9th edition of the statewide building code which incorporates the 2015 International Residential Code (IRC), International Building Code (IBC), International Energy Efficiency Code (IECC), International Existing Building Code (IEBC), and International Mechanical Code (IMC), all with Massachusetts amendments. This seminar will provide an overview of the major changes to the IBC as compared to the 8th edition, as well as a few changes found in the IEBC. MA amendments will be covered as well.

Learning Objectives:

To be able to identify the applicable codes and amendments for the 9th edition.

To understand which MA-specific regulations and legislation are referenced in the MA 9th edition..

To absorb the format changes to the IBC including Chapter 10, Egress, and Chapter 5, Height and Area limitations.

To provide attendees with a solid understanding of the requirements of the International Building Code.
